About the Mountain Home Arts Council
Meet the Team
Get Involved
As a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, the Mountain Home Arts Council’s mission is to entertain, enrich and educate the community by presenting and promoting varied artistic and cultural activities, with a focus on the performing, visual and literary arts and humanities.
The Mountain Home Arts Council presents and promotes a full season of artistic and cultural activities highlighted by a performing arts series, educational outreach, summer concert series, visual art shows, the Community Canvas of MoHo public art campaign, and literary art events, including its in-house literary journal, The Whistle Pig.
Each season, MHAC offers public performances and workshops from professional artists—it is our great honor to serve active military and veterans given our close proximity to the Mountain Home Air Force Base—and outreach programs to the schools, nursing homes, and other community organizations and underserved groups as well as scholarships and grants to graduating seniors and local artists honing their craft though professional development. Most events, and all outreach programs, are offered free of charge, while the four ticketed events are offered at reduced price points through community support, partnerships, and local, state, & federal grants.
The MHAC’s vision is of a community that embraces and welcomes all art forms, specifically through broad participation in a wide variety of arts, as well as community leaders and decision-makers who recognize the importance of the arts. We visualize the arts as an economic force, leading in community development. The Arts Council, as an active partner, also supports the missions of other community groups, gives youth access to arts and arts education, and provides an atmosphere where artists are welcomed, nurtured, and supported.

Frank Monasterio is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked as a teacher, coach, psychologist, a mental health consultant, an activist on environmental and other public issues and as a campaign organizer. He lives in Mountain Home.
Beth is a retired Postmaster from Polson, MT, and Torrance, CA. She is a member of the ESA, founder of the Mission Valley Mariners Legion baseball, and an avid reader.
Mildred enjoys reading, gardening, the piano, the arts and golfing. She is married to the Honorable Joe B. McNeal, FMR, former mayor of Mountain Home, and has five children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Originally from Iowa, Gail is a retired Spanish teacher who has lived in Mountain Home since 1978. Her interests include traveling, movies, the theatre, gardening, reading, and the arts.
She studied in France. Worked for the US Air Force and Army & Air Force Exchange Service.
Has two daughters, three grandsons and a dog named Freya.
She is a patron of the Arts since the 90s and now serving on the MHAC board.
He is the Editor of The Whistle Pig literary journal, Grants Manager at The Cabin, and sits on the Board of Directors for Arts Northwest. Originally from Polson, Montana, Chris earned his literature degree from the University of Puget Sound.
Staff
I’m Dara Corvus, a visual development–focused illustrator and artist with a BFA from the Academy of Art University.
The USAF brought me to Mountain Home from Michigan in August 2013, where I served as a member of Security Forces and left as a Staff Sergeant in October 2019. During COVID, I found my way back to art, giving me the time and space to recenter myself and reconnect with my passion.
As the world began to reopen, I wanted to continue serving my community while rediscovering that passion, so naturally, I became involved with the Visual Arts Guild in 2021. I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed the connections within the community, the challenge of organizing events, and creating opportunities that bring people together, support the arts, and bring joy to our community.
