Siempre Tejanos
Mike Arocha y Siempre Tejanos. Tejano music is a style of folk and popular music originating among Mexican-American inhabitants of southern Texas with Mexican-Spanish vocal traditions, Czech and German dance rhythms, and a touch of country, traditionally played by small groups featuring accordion and guitar. Siempre Tejanos was formed in 2010 when Arocha and accordion player Nick Hernandez were looking to play the style of music that comes out of Texas. Their goal was to make people that come to the area to work feel more at home. Arocha began his music career playing in San Antonio, recording his first record at 17. That record hit the number-one spot. With the addition of Riq Balderas as manager, the band added Mito Alonso (banjo and vocals), Traque Barroso (bass), Fred Cuellar (drums), and Jr. Barroso (strings and piano) to fill out their sound. Soon after, they were invited to perform at Tejano Fan Fair Festival in San Antonio. Since then, Siempre Tejanos has been bringing their Texas-style, old-school Tejano and country music to fans in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington.
